We are seeking a person to lead and coordinate research projects of behavioural analysis of neurological and psychiatric dysfunction in rats. This will take place at the newly established behaviour analysis core facility of the NeuroCure Center of Excellence at the Charité - Universitätsmedizin, Humboldt University and Free University, Berlin, Germany. The center provides behaviour analysis expertise and service for the basic research and translational medicine projects conducted by the NeuroCure PI research groups. It also persues the mission to become a leader in the development of novel, state-of-the-art and high-throughput methods for automated behaviour analysis in animal models for translational medicine. To achieve this goal, the center’s staff includes experts from biology, computer science and informatics, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering and has access to excellent workshop facilities. The center has been newly equipped with state-of-theart instruments and software for all the relevant behaviour paradigms, installed in about 15 observation rooms.
The successful candidate should have solid experience in behavioural work with rats, a good publication record and experience in securing outside funding. As an additional qualification a strong background in one of the following areas is expected: statistics, computer programming or in vivo physiological methods. The position with BAT-O IIa salary can be filled immediately, appointment is for three years with the option for extension.
