Applicants are expected to have a research interest in the neural mechanisms of behaviour and sensory processing. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct an independent research program (possibly funded externally), using mainly electrophysiological and neuroanatomical techniques (for details see: http://www.zoologie.uni-bonn.de/NeuroEthologie/).

We offer a 3-year contract as an Akademische Rätin auf Zeit/Akademischer Rat auf Zeit (A13) with the option for renewal. You will be part of a stimulating scientific environment in a team of scientists and students working on neuroethological questions, embedded in a department which is devoted to neuroscience including its application to technological problems (Bionics, see http://bionikgraduate.uni-bonn.de). This position offers the opportunity to acquire a habilitation degree. The position is available beginning March 2010.

We seek a team spirited, highly motivated and creative scientist with a doctoral degree. A sound background in electrophysiology and neuroanatomy and a proven track record is required. Participation in teaching in the Biology Bachelor and Neurosciences Master programs is expected (4 SWS).

Please send your full application including your CV, a brief statement of research experience and interests, publication list, names of at least two referees and pdf’s of your most important papers via email (vonderemde@uni-bonn.de) or regular mail to: Prof. Dr. Gerhard von der Emde, Universität Bonn, Institut für Zoologie, Abt. Neuroethologie/Sensorische Ökologie, Endenicher Allee 11-13, D-53115 Bonn/Germany
Applications are accepted until the position is filled.
