The University of Freiburg, Institute for Physiology I, Prof. Dr. Marlene Bartos
An enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher and prospective PhD student are invited to join the team of Prof. Dr. Marlene Bartos working on a project funded by the ‘Lichtenberg W3 Professorship award’ (VW-Foundation) at the University of Freiburg.
Our group is interested in the cellular basis of information processing in the brain. The goal is to understand how information is encoded, stored and retrieved from neuronal networks.
Our objectives are:
1. To determine cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying synaptic
communication among cortical neurons.
2. To examine the cellular basis of network synchronization in the healthy and
diseased brain.
3. To identify the rules for induction of synaptic plasticity.
4. To elucidate the role of neuron types in cognition and behavior.
If you have experience in in vivo or in vitro electrophysiology, functional (voltage sensitive dye) imaging techniques and are an independent and highly motivated researcher with excellent oral and written communication skills we are looking forward to your application.
Funding is available for 2 years with perspective for prolongation.
