In the Sensory Ecology Group at Heinrich-Heine-University of Düsseldorf the position of a

Postdoctoral Research Assistant
(100 %, EG13 TV-L)

is to be filled.

We are seeking a candidate who is internationally competitive, taking into account the current stage of her/his career. The Sensory Ecology Group is a small unit focusing on sensory ecology of insects, pollination ecology, vision research and mimicry research. The successful candidate is expected to share expertise in at least one of the research foci and to seek external funding. The demonstrated ability to conduct experimental research focusing on animal visual ecology is advantageous. Other requirements are a PhD in zoology, behavioural ecology, or a related discipline, proficiency in spoken and written English, and the ability and willingness to contribute to teaching in modules of sensory ecology, evolutionary ecology and field methods in pollination biology.

The contract shall start at 1st of January 2011 and will initially be restricted to 3 years. Extension to further 3 years is possible subject to positive performance. The possibility for “habilitation” is given. The Heinrich-Heine University advocates gender equality. Women are therefore strongly encouraged to apply.
