The Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre (BiK-F) is a new interdisciplinary institute with the mission to carry out internationally outstanding research on the interactions of biodiversity and climate change on the organism level. It has been founded by the Senckenberg Gesellschaft fuer Naturforschung, the Goethe-University Frankfurt am Main, and others partners. The Centre is funded by the Federal State of Hesse through its Initiative for the Development of Scientific and Economic Excellence (LOEWE). It provides a new, dynamic research environment that integrates a variety of disciplines from both natural and social sciences. Postdoctoral Researcher “Movement Ecology”
Project B 2.11 [Ref. #B21]

The successful applicant will investigate the impact of climatic factors and/or land-use on the movement ecology of vertebrates. The focus will be on the advanced statistical analysis of empirical movement data of vertebrates at the landscape scale. More specific topics could be the impact of landscape features on the movement behavior and seed dispersal of birds or the development and parameterization of models on vertebrate movement in heterogeneous landscapes. The taxonomic focus should be on birds or large mammals.
The applicant should hold a Ph.D. in ecology or a related field, and have a solid background in animal behavior and ecology, landscape ecology and strong skills in advanced statistical analyses, preferentially of movement data. He or she is expected to develop joint research projects, to write funding proposals, to engage in the joint supervision of Ph.D. and masters students and to contribute to teaching. A solid publication record, good written and oral communication skills, and the willingness to develop collaborations within the working group and the center as a whole are required.

Salary and benefits are according to a public service position in Germany (TV-H E 13).
