The JFB-Institut für Zoologie and Anthropologie at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen is offering a PhD position in the Scientific Project of the CRC 990 "Ecological and Socioeconomic Functions of Tropical Lowland Rainforest Transformation Systems (Sumatra, Indonesia)"

B08 / Structure and functioning of the decomposer system in lowland rainforest transformation systems

The position will be limited to 3 years and should be filled as soon as possible. Salary: Pay grade 65% TV-L 13 of German state regulated public service salary scale.

Your duties

The project will investigate the response of soil fauna to lowland rainforest transformation, decomposition processes in lowland rainforest transformation systems and the role of roots and mycorrhizal fungi for the detritivore food web.

Your profile

The applicant should hold a Master in ecology or related fields, have a research focus on insects and / or soil fauna, is willing to collaborate with other researchers of the CRC, is proficient in English, and has the willingness and ability to work in the tropics.

The project will be based in Göttingen, but fieldwork is done in Indonesia.
