PhD position (50%, 36 months): ecophysiology of small mammals

A PhD position (funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) is available at the Institute of Animal Husbandry and Animal Breeding, University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany, starting in February 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter. The aim of the project is to investigate the effects habitat fragmentation on the ecophysiology of small mammals. The project will integrate immunological, endocrinological and other ecophysiological methods into an ongoing field study to understand mechanisms underlying demographic responses of mammals to environmental changes.

We are seeking a highly motivated, independent PhD candidate who is willing to perform extensive field and laboratory work and state-of-the-art statistical analyses. The ideal candidate has a strong background in ecology and zoology, especially ecophysiology and experience with laboratory and fieldwork. Good written and spoken English is expected. Driving licence is required and having available an own car is useful.

The position is funded for three years, starting in February 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter.
