The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences I, Department of Biology of Humboldt- Universität zu Berlin (HU) and the Leibniz Institute for Zoo & Wildlife Research Berlin (IZW) invite applications for a

Junior Professorship ‘Molecular Wildlife Parasitology’

starting October 1st 2012.

The successful candidate will be required to establish a research group that
(1) applies molecular biological methods to parasitological questions and host-parasite interactions in the context of the ecology and evolution of free-living mammals,
(2) teach in the field of wildlife parasitology and its molecular basis,
(3) contribute to the development of the planned Robert Koch Graduate School and
(4) strengthen the links between HU’s Department of Biology and the IZW.

Applicants will have demonstrated excellence in parasitological research by outstanding publications, acquisition of external funding and an international profile. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in working with free-ranging mammals, with a background in evolutionary biology, and a strong interest in interacting with the research networks present in Berlin.

Applicants have to fulfil the requirements for a call as a junior professor according to § 102a of the Berliner Hochschulgesetz. HU seeks to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching, and specifically encourages qualified female researchers to apply. Preference will be given to disabled persons with equal qualifications. Applicants with migration background are highly welcome.
