The Department of Behavioural Biology at the University of Münster invites applications for a

Postdoctoral Position in Animal Welfare
(Salary grade 13 TV-L, 100 %)

Contract duration is initially 3 years and can be extended up to 5 years. The position should be filled at the earliest date possible.

Background and tasks
We invite applications for a postdoctoral position in behavioural biology, studying animal welfare related questions within the recently established Research Group of Dr. Helene Richter at the University of Münster. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and leading own research projects on the behaviour and welfare of animals, in particular laboratory animals, zoo animals, and/or pets, implementing new techniques for the objective assessment of welfare and emotions, acquiring funding for research, and publishing results in international peer-reviewed journals. Furthermore, working as a member of a team as well as commitment to teaching is expected, including the supervision of graduate and undergraduate students.

Qualifications

  • PhD ina relevant field (e.g.,Life Sciences, Animal Sciences, Behavioural Biology, Animal Welfare)
  • Expertise in study design, methodology, and data analysis
  • Excellent track record of peer-reviewed papers
  • Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in fund raising desirable
