Postdoc position in sawfly (chemical) ecology

A Postdoc position to study adjustments to distinct environmental conditions of the behavioural, physiological and chemical phenotype in the sawfly Athalia rosae is available in the group of Chemical Ecology at Bielefeld University, starting February 1st 2018 or soon thereafter. The candidate will investigate this topic using bioassays, chemical ecological, behavioural, immunological as well as transcriptomic approaches. The position is available for four years and funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) within the recently approved collaborative research centre (SFB/TRR 212) of Bielefeld and Münster entitled A Novel Synthesis of Individualisation across Behaviour, Ecology and Evolution: Niche Choice, Niche Conformance, Niche Construction (NC3).

We are seeking a bright and highly motivated Postdoc who has a proven record in entomology and chemical ecology and/or transcriptomics. A PhD in a relevant topic (e.g., entomology, animal behaviour, chemical ecology) is a prerequisite. Knowledge in the field of chemical-ecological methods as well as a solid experience in statistics would be ideal. The candidate should be able to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Fluent verbal and written English communication skills and first-author papers in peer-reviewed international journals are required.
