What is the IK?

The Interdisciplinary College (IK) is a one-week spring school on all brain & intelligence related sciences. It offers a dense, state-of-the-art course program in Neurobiology, Computational Neuroscience, Cognitive Science/Psychology, and Artificial Intelligence/Robotics. The IK is aimed at students, postgraduates and researchers from academia and industry. By combining Science, Technology and Humanities it endeavours to intensify dialogue and connectedness across the various disciplines. Moreover, the IK is a unique social event with a very special atmosphere: minds meet, music is played, and friends are made in long evening and night sessions in the welcoming conference site at Lake Möhne.

The IK 2007

Each IK has a special focus theme. In addition to up-to-date introductions into the four main fields of the IK, i.e. Artificial Intelligence, Cognitive Science, Neurobiology and Neuroinformatics, in-depth courses and discussions of specific topics related to the focus theme are offered. The focus theme of the IK 2007 will be Embodied Minds. It is reflected in a number of courses that deal, among others, with the following topics:
-        Modelling Animal Behavior
-        Engineering Humanoid Robots
-        Active Sensing and Action Selection
-        Cognitive Neurology of Embodiment
-        Mirror Systems and the Embodied Visual Systems
-        Spatial Cognition and Situation Models
