Workshop DZG - Fachgruppe Verhaltensbiologie

"RFID tracking of small animals"

21. bis 23.04.2008, Wettringen

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a rapidly evolving technique and RFID is also becoming an increasingly important tool in animal sciences. Today even very small animals can be individually marked using small encapsulated RFID transponders. Reliable individual identification is, however, just one application of RFID technology. By means of using multiple antennas at strategically chosen spots that are to be passed by the marked animals spatio temporal data can be obtained from large numbers of individuals over long periods of time. Automated data collection and the analysis of such data sets is an exciting new field in zoological research. This workshop aims to provide a discussion platform for young scientists dealing with RFID technology in zoological research.

The workshop will be held from 21. to 23.04.2008 at
Landhaus Rothenberge, Rothenberge 87, 48493 Wettringen

The "Landhaus Rothenberge" is a lovely mansion owned by the "Förderverein der Westfälischen Wilhelms-Universität Münster" situated about 40 km near Münster. The number of participants is limited to 25 persons. Preferentially those who are willing to actively participate by either giving a talk or a poster presentation will be considered. We are trying to keep costs as low as possible (<60 Euro). Board and lodging (4 meals/day, shared rooms for ~6 people) will be included
